Channukah is an happy festival grounded on several independend historical sources that reminds the liberation of the Tempel in 164 B.C.E. from the Seleucid monarchy and its re-dedication.

According to the sephardic jewish philosopher Moses ben Maimon (1138-1204 C.E.) the Jews that re-entered the Temple found only one jar of pure oil, enough to be lit for only a single day; yet they used it for lighting the required set of lamps for eight days, until they managed to press olives and produce pure oil. This is the miracle of Channukah, a fest full of joy also called Festival of Lights.
